My Portfolio

I found this quote and I thought that it applies well to me as well. I stand by it and feel the same way about my portfolio.

"My portfolio is me, everything I am and it's everything I'm not. It's m weakness and my strengths. My self-confidence and -esteem. My past, present, and most definitely my future. My portfolio is where I'm going, where I've been, places I shouldn't have been, and just a book, it's my inspiration my generation and it's never finished never done, it's always a work in progress, it's everything I've ever seen, heard, touched, smelled, sensed and believed, and my worst fears, and all my hopes at the same time. It's the beginning of the beginning and the end of an era. And so much more than a phrase. It's my portfolio and describing it is describing me."

Work

I currently work for Brigham Young University - Idaho Food Services as their graphic designer. Here are just a few of my works that I have done through them.

This first is a poster for Cafe Kimball. Cafe Kimball is a little restaurant on-campus. This was created last June (2007). This poster was to advertise a new on-campus restaurant. The original is in 22"x 28" format.

This next poster is the Coming Soon poster for the new Garden View Café. I wanted to do something that was "eye" catching and fun. I hope that it was achieved. Let me know what you think.
This next one is a poster I did for Cafe McKay. This is another eatery on-campus which is located in the University Library. They wanted me to emphasize that students can now eat while studying in the library. I created the complete identity of this restaurant (the logo, colors, menu's, etc...) The original is in 22"x 28" format.
This is the first Dining Dollar poster I made in 2007. This is one of the first full size posters I made for them. They were looking for something risky, catchy, but with in the style guide as well. The photo was taken by me. This received a lot of positive feed back. But due to also receiving some negetive feed back we decided to change our image and that is where I came up with the next poster. The original size is 22"x 28" format. This next poster was an advertisement for the Dining Dollar Campaign. Dining Dollars are prepaid food dollars placed on a students student identification card (I-Card). They are a great way for a student to get a bigger bang for their buck. If the student buys dining dollars to use at all of the great restaurants on campus then they will receive a 5-20% bonus dollars placed on their I-Card to use toward purchasing more food, or even treating someone else to a great meal. So naturally University Food Services wanted me to create an Identity for Dining Dollars that everyone can have burned into their memory. So each time they see the Dining Dollar symbol they can automatically associate it with Dining Dollars with out having to read the actually letters spelling out "D-I-N-I-N-G D-O-L-L-A-R-S." The original is in 22"x 28" format.

This poster was created for another one of the eateries on-campus. This place is a little bakery which specializes in donuts, smoothies, and bagels. For this poster the client was looking to specifically advertise their donuts. I took the photos as well. The original is in 22"x 28" format.
This poster was created to advertise the food that this delicious Italian restaurant provides and also to advertise the new hours of operation. The original is in 22"x 28" format.
This is the new poster that is outside the galley's doors which advertise the new hours for this restaurant. The original size is 22" x 28" format.
This poster is to advertise that the Nordic Landing is under construction. Nordic Landing is a market place with several different food options. The original size is 22"x 28" format.
This is a poster I made for a Theme Night that the galley puts on each month. They change the theme each month and this months theme was Asia. This was the first poster I made with Food Services. The original size is 11"x 17" format.
This was the next theme night poster I did. The theme was obviously Brazil. The photo was taken by me. I took it in the amazon rain forest on the Ecuadorian side.
This is the next theme night poster that I did. The theme was Idaho. I got a picture of the tetons which are the mountain range that border our town.
This poster was designed for the next theme night. The theme was Russia.

Logo

This is the logo for the new restaurant on campus. It is going to be an italian café which also produces specialty sandwiches. I wanted to keep it simple because all the other logos that I have created for these restaurants have been simple but I wanted it to look classy as well as italian theme.

I created this logo for the new restaurant, Cafe McKay on BYU-I campus for Food Services. It is a restaurant that is located in the university library.

This is just one of the ideas of a logo for a business that I have been thinking about creating since I was a teenager. I have always wanted to create a business called DragonFire Design, Inc.

This was a side project that I did on my own time. I don't reserve any rights to this design but it shows my ability to render in photoshop and make it look authentic.

This is a work in progress right now. I am designing a logo for a Haitian Orphanage Organization for one of my classes and so it is not finished. I will be updating it as I finish it. There is still a lot of work to be done.

Brief History on Foyer de Sion

To give a brief history of this organization. First off, Foyer de Sion means "Gates of Hope" in an Ebonics language that they speak in Haiti. It is an organization to help find homes for Haitian Orphans. Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere with 80% of it's population being unemployed. Foyer de Sion is trying to build an orphanage in Haiti that will cost roughly about $300,000 to complete. They have finished about 1/4 of it. They are looking for people to help them finish this complex by donating to their organization. All of the funds that are donated go directly to the building of this building and for the education of these children. They are also trying to find families that are looking to adopt. So, naturally their identity is everything to this organization and I feel that they have chosen a well suited name. If you have any other questions about the organization, would like to donate money to help these children, or are looking to adopt a child, please visit their website. They are looking for a logo that demonstrates hope and does not demean the Haitian children at all. So I felt that a butterfly would describe this very well. It shows that the child is taking new flight as it enters a new home.

Ok now I am going to need all your help. I need you to comment and let me know which version of this logo you like. I will have them labeled by letters so just write the letter of the logo that corresponds to the one you are commenting about. It is very important that you let me know as soon as possible. I also love to hear your comments about why you do or do not like a specific logo. Please feel free to be open I take criticism very well. Also, I would like to know what you think of the Font choice. If you have any better suggestions please let me know. If you would like to look at it a little more close up than just click the image and it should open up in another window. Thank you.

I want to thank each and everyone of you how helped me out with your comments and you votes. It really helped me out a lot. Just to let you know I got feedback from the client and she liked E the best. I know most of you said that you liked A or B, I liked those two the best as well, but we will have to see how I refine it and hopefully I can make it better over all. I encourage you all to check back because I will be adding more on very soon.
